Qube Events are excited to share our top five tips for planning the perfect Bar or Bat mitzvah! Whatever you choose to do to celebrate your coming of age, the most important thing is to ensure it is perfect for you and your family! Your Simcha is personal to you, so have fun and take inspiration from our top tips!

Bar Mitzvah

1. Give yourself plenty of time

Depending on how organised you are, there is no telling how long it will take to plan a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. For any event, Qube recommend that you start early! Our team suggest booking that the Shul is the first thing you should do. With some families booking their spots on the day their little one is born, we want to make sure you get the day and Shul of your choice! The longer you give yourself to plan the special day, the more prepared you’ll feel when it finally comes around.

2. Be original

No one wants the same tired theme that everyone has seen a thousand times. If it’s your son/daughter’s Bar/Bat mitzvah this year, then no doubt you’ll be attending several others yourself. Don’t be afraid to go outside the box by choosing something that nobody has done before! However, make sure that you keep in mind the real reason for throwing the Bar or Bat Mitzvah, which is celebrating your child. Make sure they have their say on the decision process.

3. Get your child involved

Everyone knows it’s near impossible to keep the attention of a near-teenage boy or girl for more than seconds. However, their Bat/ Bar Mitzvah is an important rite of passage in their life so get as much input from your child as you can – especially when it comes to theming and entertainment! Children’s minds are ever changing and it can be hard to keep up with the trends. They will be more in touch with the themes and styles they want at their coming-of-age, so listen to their ideas and take them on board. Once you have your ‘no go’s’ or ‘must have’s’, you can start planning a bash they’ll remember forever.

4. Take time on the speeches

Very few of us enjoy public speaking, but a good speech will often be one of the lasting memories of the night. Let your son or daughter have a go writing their own speech, encouraging them to use funny anecdotes of the family. Here at Qube, we think re-telling stories always sounds more natural and is a sure way to elicit some laughs. As we are sure all parents agree, it’s best you check it over to make sure they have included all the necessary thank you messages – that one nagging aunt will never let it go otherwise!
